Thistle (?) Botanical Card

 Hey, all!  Finished a few more cards that I’ll be posting over the next day or so.  This one was created for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Beautiful Botanicals. I can’t decide if this stamp is thistles or clover of some type, but I really love the design and thought it would be perfect for this challenge. Here’s the finished card:


After stamping the image, I used some metallic markers to add the color, making short little strokes to keep a textured look.  I went back over some parts of the stamped portion with a black jelly pen because the markers covered the black ink. 

Next, I added some splatters using a black watercolor pen.  This didn’t work so well. Once dry the splatters looked pretty weak, so to jazz it up a bit I added some clear glitter.  I used a Zig glue pen to make some sweeping lines that went along side the curvy leaf things and then sprinkled on the glitter.  

After the glue was dry, I added some lavender gems and the sentiment, then attached it to a black card blank.

This card is so much prettier in person! The metallic sheen of the lavender and green, & the sparkle of the glitter, don’t show up that well.  I think some photography classes may be in order, lol. Oh, well. I’m really happy with it.

I finally finished the Easter/Spring cards I made to send out to family & friends. They’re definitely Spring cards now since they’re too late otherwise! I used the Altenew Camellia Outline stamp to emboss the design in gold on 5”x7” watercolor paper, then colored in the design using Cretacolor Aqua Monolith Watercolor Pencils. After using a water brush to activate and move the color, l let them dry then cut the sheets vertically above & below the design without cutting through it. On the other side of the design I cut all the way down set off a bit. After fussy cutting the outer portion of the Camellias that extends over the line, I embossed the sentiments in gold. On plain white cardstock, cut to size, I inked a bokeh design using Distress Oxide Tattered Rose, Iced Spruce, Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, and Hero Arts Unicorn. Masculine Card #2

 Ok. Here is the second masculine birthday card I made.  This one has more of a nautical theme.  I made it so it could also be entered in the  Simon Says: Grunge It Up challenge, as well as the Stamping Sensations August  Make it Masculine challenge. First, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut a mat of map paper and used Catherine Pooler Sand Castle ink with a dauber to smudge the outer edges.  Next I embossed a double globe on it in gold (Moxy metallic gold) from an astronomy stamp set .  . I cut the globe using a die from a travel set and then embossed it twice using Ranger embossing ink and Lindy’s Stamp Gang Groovy Granite embossing powder. The ship was stamped on gray cardstock using the Sand Castle ink, and embossed with Nuvo Clear Fine Detail embossing powder.  I wasn’t sure the Catherine Pooler dye ink would work, but it did!  I then used a clear embossing Pen to draw waves underneath & embossed it with the Groovy Granite embo...

Watercolor Carnations

This is the first of 4 cards I made this weekend. I’m trying to build up my birthday card stash, so all 4 are birthday. I made this card for the  MFT Color Challenge 157 . I also plan on entering it in the Lavinia World Challenges #44 . The colors were Summer Splash, Tropical Teal, Kraft, and Milk Chocolate. I’ve been wanting to use my new Cretacolor Aqua Monolith watercolor pencils so I chose an Altenew Carnation stamp that I thought would look pretty in aqua & teal watercolor.  I stamped the carnations on watercolor paper using Ranger Distress Embossing Glaze in Walnut Stain. Once set, I began coloring using the pencils. As I colored each section, I used a water brush to activate the pencil color & move it around a bit.  I colored the carnations in shades of aqua & teal and the stems in a moss & grass green.
