A Clowder of Kitties

This is the Sneaky Kitties die that I got from Simon Says a while back. It’s so cute!


I’ve been looking for an opportunity to use it and the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 534 offered it.


I could use the sneaky kitties for the stripes! I also have the PinkFresh Argyle stencil that I’ve been wanting to use as well, so I decided to put them together. Now for a color palette - it needed to work for the plaid and the kitties. Here is what I found:


I’d use the teals and yellow for the plaid and the grays for the kitties. I began by lightly blending Distress Oxide Salty Sea on some white cardstock, after letting it dry for a while, I taped the 1st stencil down & blended on Mermaid Lagoon. I let that dry and used the 2nd stencil with Squeezed Lemonade. 

Next I cut a  rectangular mat from the plaid using a PinkFresh die.  After die cutting the kitties in 2 shades of gray (4 in medium gray & 2 in heather gray), I used a white sentiment from Simon Says that I did earlier & saved.

Summer Pond

This card took a few different turns. I decided to go with a pond theme for the  The House That Stamps Built Theme Challenge J2321 ~ Scenery and for the 'I love....' Stamping Sensations June challenge. I love lily pads and froggies, so I thought I’d make a pond scene using Altenew Paint-A-Flower Lotus stamp and a die cut frog.  Unfortunately, the triple layer mandala frog pattern I had just would not cut on my Cricut from cardstock. I tried a new blade, making the image bigger, but nothing seemed to work; so I thought maybe I’d try a dragonfly. I do love those colorful dragonflies that zip around the water.  Every dragonfly file I found would have ended up with the same problem, though, so I decided to find a zentangle dragonfly to color with Copics. Silver & Shiny

Here’s the second card I made tonight. I’m entering it in the  MFT Stamps - Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 510 , the Simon Says: Make It Sparkle challenge (which I interpreted as including metallic), and the Lavinia World Challenges #37 - Anything Goes using stamps . The background is a modified galaxy or confetti background that I learned from this great video by Susanne Rose Art . I simply added some silver mica powder to the resist spray and stayed with teals and aquas for my colors. You can’t tell from the photo but the resist spots do have a bit of silver sheen to them. The Inks I used were Catherine Pooler Hot Tub, Aquatini, Mardi Gras, Skylight, and Daydream. Once it was dry I stamped the Lavinia Star Blossom stamp using Versamark ink and embossed it using Recollections Detail Silver embossing powder. I then simply trimmed it to size, attached it to a teal card base, added the 3 sentiment strips, and some clear sequins. Thanks for stopping by! Sandy

Candy Cane Deluxe

For the  Simon Says: Food and/or Drink challenge , one of the examples had a candy cane , so I thought I’d use some too. I just got a pine tree frame die & it would be perfect for that. I could make it look like a tree with candy canes & an ornament. Here’s how it turned out: I used my Cricut to cut the candy canes, ornament, some extra pine sprigs, & the Merry Christmas. The frame was die cut, and I used a scrap of green print cardstock for the backing. I embossed the Merry Christmas in black, then put everything together on a green card base. Thanks for stopping by!
