Purple Daisies

Well, here’s another one that required some saving. For the MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 538, I pulled out the Simon Says Drawn Daisies stamp since it’s perfect for square cards. 

I stamped it on marker paper, colored it with Copics, and then used my Cricut Maker to cut out the design. At the same time I cut the 5-1/2” square card blank and a mat of 5-1/4” square. I also cut out the part next to the circle in an ombré print paper. 


I used my stitched circle die set to cut down the size of the colored circle and cut the next size up in black cardstock.

After gluing all the pieces to the mat I decided it looked too dull so sprayed it with a glossy sealer. When dry, I decided that the ombré paper really didn’t work, so I peeled it off as best I could. I cut another one from black cardstock and glued it in place. That was better, so I added the “Hugs” sentiment & called it a day.

Since I used another “hugs” sentiment, I also entered it in the Simon Says: Sending Hugs challenge.

Springtime Camellias

I finally finished the Easter/Spring cards I made to send out to family & friends. They’re definitely Spring cards now since they’re too late otherwise! I used the Altenew Camellia Outline stamp to emboss the design in gold on 5”x7” watercolor paper, then colored in the design using Cretacolor Aqua Monolith Watercolor Pencils. After using a water brush to activate and move the color, l let them dry then cut the sheets vertically above & below the design without cutting through it. On the other side of the design I cut all the way down set off a bit. After fussy cutting the outer portion of the Camellias that extends over the line, I embossed the sentiments in gold. On plain white cardstock, cut to size, I inked a bokeh design using Distress Oxide Tattered Rose, Iced Spruce, Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, and Hero Arts Unicorn. Summer Pond

This card took a few different turns. I decided to go with a pond theme for the  The House That Stamps Built Theme Challenge J2321 ~ Scenery and for the 'I love....' Stamping Sensations June challenge. I love lily pads and froggies, so I thought I’d make a pond scene using Altenew Paint-A-Flower Lotus stamp and a die cut frog.  Unfortunately, the triple layer mandala frog pattern I had just would not cut on my Cricut from cardstock. I tried a new blade, making the image bigger, but nothing seemed to work; so I thought maybe I’d try a dragonfly. I do love those colorful dragonflies that zip around the water.  Every dragonfly file I found would have ended up with the same problem, though, so I decided to find a zentangle dragonfly to color with Copics. Autumn Kitty

A few challenges have come up using similar colors:  Creative Confetti - Colors of Fall! ; The House That Stamps Built - Inspiration Palette Challenge ; & the MFT Color Challenge 150 . Woo hoo! One card, three entries. So here’s what I came up with. The Painted Harvest stamp & die set from Stampin Up is retired, but I found a used set on ebay for a good price, so what better to use for these colors?   For the background I applied a light layer of Catherine Pooler Garden Party to white cardstock, spritzed it with water, & dried it quickly with my heat gun. Next I stamped the 2 layer fern-type leaf in Melon Ice & Lime Rickey, then attached it to a Kraft card base. On another piece of white cardstock I stamped 2 of the leaf sets with Sage & Spruce, one flower with Limoncello & Shea Butter, one with Shea Butter & Tiara, and one with Bellini & Orange Peel.
