Pretty in Pink

For the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Simon Says: Add Texture I decided to use a stencil and modeling paste to create texture. I’ve had some good luck with adding embossing powders to the modeling paste, getting really interesting looks. I looked through my embossing powders and found a Ranger Blush Pearl powder that I don’t think I’ve used before, so I went with it. I’m trying to go through my supplies and use things I haven’t used before. On that same note, I have a Simon Says Stamp stencil, Spring Boho Circle, that I haven’t used before either, so took that out.


I began with a piece of 4.25 x 5.5” white cardstock and blended Distress Oxide Victorian Velvet over it. Next I spritzed some water on it and dried, then spritzed some Avery Elle shimmer spray over it and dried. That gave me a shimmery textured background which I taped my stencil over, then spread Liquitex light modeling paste over the stencil using a palette knife. When I removed the stencil I had the stencil design on my cardstock in the modeling paste that I then sprinkled with the Blush Pearl embossing powder. I let this dry overnight.

The next morning I used my heat gun on the embossing powder and ended up with this.


Background complete, I trimmed the edges 1/8” all around for a nice clean look.

Next I die cut the Stampin’ Up Artistically Inked bouquet once, from white cardstock, and the ‘hello’, from the Sizzix Thinlits Friendship Words set, 3 times. I glued the 3 sentiment die cuts together for a more impactful look. I glued the flower bouquet on my background, attached a piece of rose-colored sheer ribbon, and glued the sentiment over that.

I used a tape runner to attach my design to a top-folding A2 card base. Then I stamped some flowers from the Artistically Inked bundle on the inside, and was done.

I’m happy with how this card turned out! The textured shimmery background really sets the stage.

Springtime Camellias

I finally finished the Easter/Spring cards I made to send out to family & friends. They’re definitely Spring cards now since they’re too late otherwise! I used the Altenew Camellia Outline stamp to emboss the design in gold on 5”x7” watercolor paper, then colored in the design using Cretacolor Aqua Monolith Watercolor Pencils. After using a water brush to activate and move the color, l let them dry then cut the sheets vertically above & below the design without cutting through it. On the other side of the design I cut all the way down set off a bit. After fussy cutting the outer portion of the Camellias that extends over the line, I embossed the sentiments in gold. On plain white cardstock, cut to size, I inked a bokeh design using Distress Oxide Tattered Rose, Iced Spruce, Hickory Smoke, Weathered Wood, and Hero Arts Unicorn. Summer Pond

This card took a few different turns. I decided to go with a pond theme for the  The House That Stamps Built Theme Challenge J2321 ~ Scenery and for the 'I love....' Stamping Sensations June challenge. I love lily pads and froggies, so I thought I’d make a pond scene using Altenew Paint-A-Flower Lotus stamp and a die cut frog.  Unfortunately, the triple layer mandala frog pattern I had just would not cut on my Cricut from cardstock. I tried a new blade, making the image bigger, but nothing seemed to work; so I thought maybe I’d try a dragonfly. I do love those colorful dragonflies that zip around the water.  Every dragonfly file I found would have ended up with the same problem, though, so I decided to find a zentangle dragonfly to color with Copics. Masculine Card #2

 Ok. Here is the second masculine birthday card I made.  This one has more of a nautical theme.  I made it so it could also be entered in the  Simon Says: Grunge It Up challenge, as well as the Stamping Sensations August  Make it Masculine challenge. First, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut a mat of map paper and used Catherine Pooler Sand Castle ink with a dauber to smudge the outer edges.  Next I embossed a double globe on it in gold (Moxy metallic gold) from an astronomy stamp set .  . I cut the globe using a die from a travel set and then embossed it twice using Ranger embossing ink and Lindy’s Stamp Gang Groovy Granite embossing powder. The ship was stamped on gray cardstock using the Sand Castle ink, and embossed with Nuvo Clear Fine Detail embossing powder.  I wasn’t sure the Catherine Pooler dye ink would work, but it did!  I then used a clear embossing Pen to draw waves underneath & embossed it with the Groovy Granite embo...
